Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for the simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of fluoxetine and sertraline in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluid
Authors
Abstract:
Simultaneous spectrophotometric estimation of Fluoxetine and Sertraline in tablets were performed using UV–Vis spectroscopic and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). Absorption spectra of two components were recorded in 200–300 (nm) wavelengths region with an interval of 1 nm. The calibration models were thoroughly evaluated at several concentration levels using the spectra of synthetic binary mixture (prepared using orthogonal design). Three layers feed-forward neural networks using the back-propagation algorithm (B.P) has been employed for building and testing models. Several parameters such as the number of neurons in the hidden layer, learning rate and the number of epochs were optimized. The Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) for each component in real sample was calculated as 1.06 and 1.33 for Fluoxetine and Sertraline, respectively. The results showed a very good agreement between true values and predicted concentration values. The proposed procedure is a simple, precise and convenient method for the determination of Fluoxetine and Sertraline in commercial tablets.

full textAdaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) applied for spectrophotometric determination of fluoxetine and sertraline in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluid
The UV-spectrophotometric method of analysis was proposed for simultaneous determination of fluoxetine (FLX) and sertraline (SRT). Considering the strong spectral overlap between UV-Vis spectra of these compounds, a previous separation should be carried out in order to determine them by conventional spectrophotometric techniques. Here, full-spectrum multivariate calibrations adaptive neuro-fuzz...

full textResolving Spectra Overlapping Based on Net Analyte Signal for Simultaneous Spectrophotometric Determination of Fluoxetine and Sertraline
The net analyte signal standard addition method was used for simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of sertraline and fluoxetine in pharmaceutical preparations. The method combines the advantages of the standard addition method with the net analyte signal concept to enable the extraction of information about an analyte from the spectra of multi-component mixtures. This method uses full s...
full textPartial Least Square and Parallel Factor Analysis Methods Applied for Spectrophotometric Determination of Cefixime in Pharmaceutical Formulations and Biological Fluid
In this study, the direct determination of cefixime as an anti-bacterial agent, in pharmaceutical formulations, urine and human blood plasma was conducted based on spectrophotometric measurements using parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) and partial least squares (PLS). The calibration set was composed of fourteen solutions in the range of 0.50- 9.00 µg mL-1. PLS models were calculated at each p...
